The ShareSource team is working hard on delivering you the best of functions that it can provide. Recently,
the people behind ShareSource have been talking on a mailing list about raising some money to purchase
some new equipment.
To purchase equipment though requires money, and that is something that is in short supply.
Sharesource provides hosting completely free of charge to over 300 free/open source software projects. ShareSource provides tools to enable developers of these projects to communicate and develop.
ShareSource has received a lot of help from OpenHosting. Without them, ShareSource would not be available in the same capacity that it is today. They have provided capital that will help us pay for all of ShareSource's hosting needs in the foreseeable future.

What is on the "TO PURCHASE" list?
ShareSource is really only looking to buy one or two new Intel Core2Duo machines, from a supplier such as Dell or HP. The machine(s) will enable ShareSource projects to create a virtual environment with an operating system of their choosing. This environment is accessable via traditional methods, such as SSH. The account that you will log in with would be 'root', the Administrator of the system. This means you can install any software that you want or change any configuration.Why donate money?
Donating money to ShareSource will allow the core developers of the software to be able to add more offerings to the ShareSource website. Specifically, it will allow the purchase of items which are listed further down the bottom of this page.Will my requested feature come quicker if I donate?
ShareSource tries to ensure that all of the features that it develops for use on the site are usefull and functional features that projects will need or want to use. We do, however, give a little bit more attention to requests made by donors, however, that is not to say that a donors unique idea that will only be used by two projects will be added.How much do you want to raise?
