restore4linux is a port of the FreeBSD restore[8] utility to Linux, and its purpose is nothing but enabling one to deal with FreeBSD dumps (cf. dump[8]) on Linux.

restore(8) for Linux has no files!
Maybe they have code in Mercurial?
