(Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet company, and Tim Groeneveld, an open source developer, who created one of the worlds fastest growing open source software forges, today announced they have signed a definitive agreement under which Yahoo! will acquire the ShareSource domain for an undisclosed purchase price in stocks.

"Yahoo!'s brand and unmatched breadth and depth of services, combined with ShareSource's functionality and usable interface will will help us achieve our goal of providing users with the most comprehensive, relevant and highest quality open source development solutions on the Web," said Terry Semel, Yahoo! chairman and CEO. "The addition of ShareSource's development platform adds both control and flexibility to our business, and allows us to compete in an area that Microsoft, Google and Sourceforge Inc. know just too well."

"Since 2007, ShareSource's foundation has been based on a comunity centric approach to the the Open Source software development cycle." said Tim Groeneveld, the person who started programming ShareSource less then three years ago because he felt that nothing was what he wanted. "Today's announcement means that ShareSource can get global reach and commitment to providing the best user experience on the Web, and we can now provide more services to the end user. Open source development will no longer have barriers with our new technologies that we will be publishing under the Yahoo! banner."
