FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:Contact: Tim Groeneveld ShareSource +61 (02) 4958 6565 sharesource@timg.ws http://sharesource.org ShareSource unveils public beta Sydney, NSW, 12th July 2007 -- ShareSource, a new product by Tim Groeneveld, sponsored by OpenHosting and supported by True-Betas has announced the immediate availability of the ShareSource site. ShareSource is a replacement for other sites such as Google Code, aimed on simplicity. ShareSource started as an idea, when Tim Groeneveld created a project on Sourceforge. He found the hassle of needing to go through more then 5 pages to register a project annoying and hard. With simplicity on hand, and the need to code after a personal disaster, Tim whipped out his Apache and started coding ShareSource. More then 100 coffees and a few months later, ShareSource was ready for it's initial public release. ShareSource offers a wide range of features, most of which are shared with other similar software development management systems. These features include: * Easy two step user registration * Easy three step project registration * A simple to use project administration panel * A bugtracker - so simple, a grandmother could report a bug. * A screenshot manager * File Release Management System (FRM) ShareSource took away a lot of the duplication that occurs with other sites. Some sites provide many version control systems, ShareSource, after a lot of consideration, only provides support one: Subversion. Subversion is an industry standard revision control system, which is open source, and available on all most used platforms today. Tim Groeneveld has been known for keeping the development of ShareSource a closely held secret, but alas, a secret cannot last forever, and that is for the best, because today you can see one of the best things to happen to Open Source since Linus Torvalds. |
